Just wondered how all you lovely people purchased your music? I personally still buy albums from the shop and download any singles or odd songs I like, I enjoy reading the credits and all the rubbish in the sleeve Along with people like Amazon and Play offering CD at £4-£5 cheaper will there be no HMV's left on the high street and is it a bad thing?

i still buy CDs very very often, several per month really. not singles, the only singles iv bought in the last year are courteeners ones, but albums yes, loads, thats why its wierd to see this whole change in ideas towards downloads and that. iv always liked owning the CD, having the booklet, the sleeve notes, just having it on a CD

[glow=red,2,300]CITYFAN[/glow] I presume you download your music for free?? I do with the odd song that you cant get in the shops (Courteeners and the Kasabian song fast fuse) But do you feel like you might be robbing new bands of some coin?? Am not lecturing or saying your an arse. Am just curious, I presume you go to see the bands so your paying them back (the whole radiohead thing) in another way??
PS Sorry Cityfan's in RED am sure you hate that

I download most of my music, but I can certainly understand why people like to buy albums and singles etc. I bought "acrylic" and "what took you so long?" and the rascals' "Out of dreams EP", and it's nice to have the CD and the artwork and all that.
However, in the past, I've downloaded most of my stuff simply because i had no money to buy music.

I think it's the whole thing of going in the shop, have a little look around, laughing at the people in the queue with there Leon Cd's and getting that wrapping off and the smell of new paper inside............(sorry thats going to far ) Just reading all the crap inside, some are informative and others are fully of pictures and crap really. But I think that's the best way to do it!!

I buy plenty of albums and singles, but i use an independent record store instead of hmv or so, they are usually marked up 50 pence or a quid, but its worth it.
I tend to download albums i'm not sure about, if i like them i'll buy it, if not f*ck 'em, i'm not paying for a shit album.

I buy CD's, im materialistic see. Some ass at school takes the piss cause 'no one buys music anymore'. Plus it looks better in your CD collection.

PS Sorry Cityfan's in RED am sure you hate that Lol, yeah blue please I always make an effort to buy albums of the smaller bands I like - as I say bought Frank Turner and Bromheads jackets albums last year, and will buy the courteeners albums aswell But atm i have just started gettin into music from 60s 70s and 80s, so pretty much all of the music i download is from bands that are already loaded, or dead. I do go to quite a lot of gigs aswell, and if i do download some stuff off a smaller band, i usually only buy a couple of songs and if i like it i make an effort to go to either their gig or buy their album If i didnt download the music, theres no way i could afford to buy much, and with the shit thats on the radio, my interest in music would dwindle, and i doubt i'd go to as many gigs or festivals, so i think its not such a bad thing - free music is everywhere anyway now - loads of bands stream whole albums on myspace and lastfm now

No it wouldn't be a bad thing if hmv went down, if independent stores like Piccadilly records did it would be a shame however

I really enjoy going into HMV and the like, searching the different rows and that buzz when you find a good one, iTunes couldnt offer that.
