sounds mega - love the pianos and the synth - the chorus is brilliant too
agree with sean, white lies got there - admitedly - the album was brilliant, not excatly commerically successful but still
st.jude got to number 4 - the lead single was not nineteen wasn't it?
I think you overdid it doll is much more powerful - with that as the single - it could well get to number 1
for one week I suspect anyways

On a normal week St Jude would have easily got to Number 1, it's just what else was being released that week was something very tough to contend with, i.e. The Rolling Stones, R.E.M. and Duffy. St Jude was an easy number 1 all week until Saturday when the mum's and dad's over the world went out and bought their music with the weekly big shop. Falcon could easily get to number one and I think it will do, and I don't think anything heavyweight is being released that week. Even so, chart positions, they're a nice token but nothing to get hung up on. And in response to the person up there, "This could be the year that the Courteeners make it big" - headlining GMEX is pretty big don't you think? It's only the media that haven't latched on and they're giving them a lot more respect and time of day now, I've noticed.

I would imagine everyone who bought St. Jude will go out & buy Falcon, plus the people who have bought St. Jude since it was out of the charts (hit its peak in sales) plus all the people who have cottoned onto courteeners from festivals media etc. Depending on who else releases in the same week, there no reason why they won go better than 4th in the chart. I often find that only the good succeed in the album charts, the singles charts is often full of shite. after all anyone can produce a one hit wonder.
As for the new single, i listened to both airings last night, and first impression was, keen on the new sound, but couldnt always make out the lyrics which is something ive never had a problem with from Courteeners before. lyriucs have always been clear. I need to get it on ipod and listen to it for a few hours before passing final judgement!

agree they've matured with the sound of the new tune.........falcon will do well probs....we don't know what else is coming out on the 22nd so can't really guess if it will get no. 1 or not
I agree with fergal - like how the media haven't latched onto them like they did this time 2 years ago - headlining the g-mex was brilliant and whatever it was 10,000 people there done them good
but if it gets to number 1 or not - who cares - if it sounds amazing thats what counts

this song's about coke innit?
judging by those lyrics he's definitely hinting at something, it's like Kimberley all over again but with a funkier tune

Not massively impressed with 'You Overdid It, Doll'. Although, perhaps I'm being a bit hasty and after a few more listens it may grow on me. However, I can't seem to escape the fact that this is not the same sound that got me into The Courteeners in 2007.

Completely agree with Irlam
10 times better live for me, not a fan of the over produced disco pop style that will be on the record
really think its one for the radio
glad that the vinyl has a live version at the GMEX

She thinks it's cool as f*ck until she dies etc. Not as strong as Cross my heart in my opinion, but would probably be more popular which is why they've picked it I assume.

I think it's quality. And that's after 39 plays.

Thing is, yeah I can see exactly what you mean. But most Arctics' fans didn't get into them for songs like The Fire And Thud, so you'll never really get what you got in the first place. But I get your point, we already know there's Sycophant and Good Times..
