you dont have to right about people, for example my last one was just my basic opinion on the music industry.

I can't write about things, things don't have feelings, stuff like the music industry are just heartless and are just about money, and I write about emotions and all that general shit. At the end of the day, I'm just selfish, but loads of people who write are selfish, whether it be poets or songwriters.

I know, no offence taken. Though to be honest last few weeks I've run dead dry and some stuff has been crap, I've started things and then just scrapped. Basically, I've got like 50 or so poems and most of them are about the same thing, and it's real, but it's crazy, but I think it gets to a point where you can only write so much about the same thing. Just channeling my emotions from the same thing into different words. The 'happening' that I do write so much about is no smaller or less important than it ever is, I just think that I've said everything I can about it and now it's just in fates hands. Either it needs to happen soon, or something else of huge importance needs to spark off, and I can't se either of these happening.

I'll have to eventually, it won't be optional, it's either I expand, or I leave it be and let the 'legend' live lol. I can't really see myself just folding and stopping. I've tried to do what Bono did for the new album, he got sick of writing about himself so he put himself into the character of someone else and write stuff. I like this idea, but as I said, I can't really write anything about someone I don't know or doesn't exist. Here's to future texts and all sorts of shit I will write

Everyone, no matter how good or how gifted they are, get to a point when they've made their point and have nothing left to say. I've been writing for about 2 years and packed so much in, must have write hundreds, alot of which just get scrapped, but maybe it won't last much longer. I don't want to start writing stuff that I'm not satisfied with, because even if other people like it, I won't understand it and it won't have much meaning. If it gets to a point in the coming weeks where I can't write then I'll probably have a break, don't want to stress myself.

i think thats wrong, if they run out of things to write about it means that they were never that creative in the first place, more just wanted to have a bit of a cleverly written rant.
not that im a big fan but morrissey continues to write and i dont think he would if he had nothing to say, cus hes a good creative mind.

You can easily run out of things to write about, there are alot of factors, like how busy your life is, how busy you are with friends and family and all that. I personally have a fairly quiet life, not much going on at the moment, but perhaps in a few months something will happen. It's not like you can write about sitting at home watching telly, you have to have a subject matter. I think that I have said what I have to say about this particular subject that I have had the pleasure to write about for the past couple of months, and I've just stopped loving this particular matter and I have not got anything else that I can do to get what I want, so I have left it alone before I get pissed off. Sure something will happen sooner or later and I will spark to life.

can I just weigh in on this debate.
I wrote my first poems in 1989. I look back on those now and think I was an amateur. I didnt really write much after that till 1993, and then I really started getting into the stuff you see on here like the bits from my novel and the endless rain series from 1996 to 1999. But I find myself with even more to say now 20 years on, and if nothing much is going on in my life (not usually the case, mind) I magic up something from the 3rd person perspective.
I find my imagination gets stranger and more creative the older I get.. if I posted one of my 1989 poems you might think less of my ability!!

Do post one if possible scruff, will be interesting. i'm not sure if I still have any knocking about, but I will go through my files at the back of the cupboard and have a look ;D to me they are really amateur, the earliest one on here I'm happy with dates back to about 1991, that would be the one about Madchester. Possibly in this thread, or maybe the thread when I first joined the site.

I have the same feeling sometimes, even though it's only been 2 years since I started, I look back and think how bad it was, and even though some people have their doubts about me I think I've come along way and when I look at some old stuff, it truly is shite, but I'm happy now. Even though it's not amazing, I think it's good, and I'm sure that there is alot more to come and it should be better. It's wierd how when you write shite you don't realise that it's crap until you've written alot more.

then your probably more just after a way to express yourself rather than using your imagination particularly, which isnt really a criticism, but your just talking about yourself or stuff involving you, you know how you feel so you dont really need much perspective to do it.
