Ah I miss them. Sounds like stuff has started with regards to the album though so that's good news. If you download all the live tracks and b-sides from iTunes there's 41 tracks in total. Some of the b-sides are class, they should've stuck 'Trying Too Hard To Score' on the album. Best band in the world.

Couldn't find this anywhere on the message boards already, it's an article in the new edition of NME which was out yesterday. I'll type it up in full In The Studio Courteeners Elbow back in to actionLiam Fray is taking inspiration from The Coral and Guy Garvey on the follow-up to 'St. Jude' The Courteeners have hit the studio in Belgium to record their second album, which frontman Liam Fray has told NME is inspired by Elbow, The Coral and domestic nagging. The singer explained that the Manchester four-piece were on their way to Brussels' ICP studios with White Lies and Suede producer Ed Buller to kick off a seven-week recording session - taking a break only only to play the Reading And Leeds Festivals at the end of August. Fray said he was taking inspiration from Guy Garvey to up the ante from the band's 2008 debut, 'St. Jude', adding piano and strings into the mix. "We've got one song called 'It'll Take More Than A Weekend Away To Fix This Mess' - it sounds like a Garvey song, if I'm allowed to be so egotistical," Fray explained, adding that he had to slum it with the mortals when the band played the pair's shared hometown recently. "I watched them playing in Manchester with an orchestra," he said. "Well, I tried to get a ticket outside with my mate but there was only one going. They were televising it down the road at an organised broadcast so we went to that instead - there were so many people there loving it. But there was on problem - no bar!" Fray went on to explain that he has written 26 or 27 songs that are being considered for the album including 'Take Over The World', 'Sunflower', 'The Good Times Are Calling', and 'Sycophant' - the latter two of which they played live recently at T In The Park. "' Sunflower' really sounds like The Coral, one of the more popular ones - like 'Jacqueline'," explained Fray. "'... Good Times..' is about, well, I don't want to say it, but it's about being nagged. ;D

Thanks mate, that's ace, will read a copy later if I go shops. Always laugh when they say 26 or 27 tunes, surely it can't be hard to be set on 1 number, anyway. First I've heard The Coral mentioned, which can only be a good thing, since they are an immense band. Now he mentions the Guy Garvey resemblence in 'It'll Take More Than A Weekend...' I think that there was a couple of us mentioning that the other day in another thread, so good to hear we aren't going delutional. Just get more excited every time I hear something new about the album, it's simply going to be amazing, cannot wait ey.
Cheers pal!

Message from Liam: now then.
How is every one dealing with the summer?
Go to itunes and download "Out in the Streets by the Shangri-La's", the best 79 pence you'll spend this week. A moody slice of gorgeousness.
We're in Sunny Brussels with our studio hats on. All is going to plan. Take Over The World.
We've been messing around with the video camera too, so we'll probably be posting bits and bobs on here.
Keep your eyes peeled, and your shoes well heeled.
