So I'll get the ball rolling with some news you may have already heard:


The Stone Roses 20th Anniversary

On 10th August, 2009, exactly twenty years to the day from the moment when four Manchester musicians stepped on to the stage of the Blackpool Empress Ballroom for what would become a legendary gig, Sony Music re-release the classic album that is The Stone Roses in 4 brand new formats.

In addition to all of this, the five classic singles, Elephant Stone, Made Of Stone, She Bangs The Drums, Fool's Gold and One Love will be released as re-mastered 7"s, and on iTunes, weekly throughout July and into August, in the lead up to the album release.

THE COLLECTORS EDITION.

* Wrapped in classic John Squire artwork throughout.

I'm well excited about this, will add to my growing roses collection.

The best price i've found for the collector's edition is at Amazon for 85 quid (i think??) Defo a really special looking set!

Already pre-ordered all the singles, I know it's another cash in but I've been collecting the band for nearly 2 decades I just can't miss out on something this good

It was a toss up between the Roses and the Oasis vinyl album set!!!

Went for the roses....orderd it this morning...£80 quid......fuckin 'ell!!

yh go for the roses over oasis any day.

but, i mean i know it's the anniversary and all that, but it's the same old cashing in, and there's no way i'd pay £80+ for it. if there's anything truly special on it, (like this "unheard track" :s ), i'll pick it up off the net. it's about the tunes, and they'll always be the same, no matter how often they're "remastered"

That box set sounds ace, hefty price but well worth having if you massive fan. Quite fancy some of these singles on 7", I'll have a look into it. Thanks for the post Darren.

I'm so very tempted to just splash out and get the Collectors Edition but I do think I'll have to settle for the Legacy Edition...reading the list of features on the Collectors Edition it's just too tempting though!
On Gonzo a few weeks ago it had a video of Ian Brown and John Leckie in the studio doing the remasters and that, fair interesting I thought.
Anyone had a listen to the podcast advertised on the site featuring "Liam Fray of the Courteeners"? I think I might have a listen now

I'm not!! I'm giving it to the people who wrote the songs and John Leckie and theres no way Ian Brown would be involved in it if he thought it was in anyway a 'cashing in' exercise, he's not a sell out. He has the up most respect for that band and the album

You could pick fault at anything you buy...Theres always some ponce behind everything. Silvertone where never really the problem it was Gareth Evens who was the thingy who let them sign the deal. He was supposed to have there backs and act in there best interstes...but he didn't.

No on held a gun to anyones head to sign the contract, the roses didn't give a f**k at the time, they just wanted to make music. Sorry but they cant moan about silvertone now......Hindsites a great thing!!!!!
