The Maccabees have recently released their second album Wall Of Arms. I think it a fantastic album and better thant he debut.
What do all of you make of the band? I have never heard or seen anyone mention them on here.
I think they might be in for a big year. I advice everyone to give Wall of arms a listen.
I saw them for the 3rd time last thursday and they were brilliant. Very good live band.

i've listened to "colour it in", which was very good, although nothing really special. im willing to give this new one a listen aswell though  |

I hate it too when people say that a band are 'catagorically' shit, it's opinion, you can't seriously just define a band as shit. I personally don't really like them, but I used to say all that crap about bands being shit but tbh (excluding scouting for girls etc etc...) no band is genuinely shit are they?? |

I think its fair to say that is an ignorant opinion. I am not a die hard Maccabees fan but it annoys me when people label acts they more than likely have not given a chance to as shit. It more often than not comes from people who just love bands such as Oasis, Kasabian The cribs, The Libs etc. Music is very diverse. Broaden the horizons.
Saying that, for all I know you might well have listened to every track of the band and hated everyone. So if that is the case then fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion but I do doubt this from your limited feedback on the band.

I'm with you benraul, without being a fan of Maccabees, you may not have to justify a reason for liking someone, but you should really go into a little more depth with a reason for saying that a band are shit, there has to be reasons why they are shit.

I've never really been into them but one of my friends loves them. I like the single (thought it sounded almost a bit arcade fire??), then went to see them at glasto and they blew me (and the boyf) away. They were defo the find of the festival.....
Sooo we vowed to go and see them when we got back however we have now placed a ban on anymore gigs in 2009 (apart from teeners ob.) due to leeds fest, cribs, kasabian muse at o2 and trip to new york still left for this year, plus me going back to student life means less pennies...
However we'll make sure we catch them at leeds fest....as I would advise anyone else who is not familer with them to do!
