haha that's a quote by John Lennon, sure he added something like The Beatles are biggest bastards on earth.
UPTON - We never said he wasn't talented or ought like that - basically just saying he's stuck up his own arse!
Didn't he want all the credit to the songs by changing Lennon/McCartney to McCartney/Lennon??

Spot on, Piggies to name another, or was that Lennon?? To be fair though, I'm willing to forget all the crap that he write and just focus on the true awesomness of the vast majority of it. Hehe almost Ant it’s a Harrison 1 I’m looking forward to these releases. A similar thing was done a few years back with the first 8 US versions of the albums. Beatles on capitol Vol.1 and Vol.2. You got 4 albums on each box set, mono/stereo. But they screwed up the mono version of rubber soul, by using a mixed down stereo instead of the original mono. So I’ll be waiting to hear if they get it right this time. It’s also worth knowing that the beatles often oversaw the mono mixes, but not so on the stereo, I think this was reversed round pepper when stereo was the more important format. On the subject of the prices of Beatle CDs, It’s the fact they got screwed on the original contract. So every future format they cut themselves a bigger deal meaning its harder for shops to discount. I’m sure this is why the legal downloads is taking so long, indeed I had to wait till 87 before the cds come out. Ok seems nobody else is gonna defend Macca I’ll try. Yes true Heather is a b!tch but for Christ sake she didn’t command huge swathes of album content unlike Ms Ono, Double Fantasy being a great half album. The subject of writing credits, why not if a song was his then put his name 1st. It would clear up who wrote what too. Pauls credit was taken off Give peace a chance, sometime in the 90’s. Seems Yoko liked that idea then. What’s sauce for the goose. As for the Girl is mine. Shit it’s on the biggest selling (so most popular) album of all time by a long margin. Being part of that is surely a feather in his cap. Now Wings. They are what they are. While John was dodging UFOs, immigration and living his life by the tarot. Paul and George were out there giving Beatle fans what they wanted, concerts and albums. band on the run, venus and mars and speed of sound are great albums. Now whens the last time you felt like spinning mind games or some time in NY city? Hell don’t get me started on Lennons unfinished music vols 1-2 and wedding album. I don’t know where the notion of being a b*st*rd and tight comes from. Its seems you guys have watched the heather mills star stories? He’s lent his time and name to many causes. I recall him donating the advert fees from 1 tour which were around the £1,000,000 to an animal (don’t laugh) charity, which if my memory serves me was one of largest single donations in UK history at the time. While John was preaching love peace and no possessions he was happy to have a whole bunch of temperature controlled rooms to store his huge fur coat collection. Still he managed to find the time to ignore Julian. Frog song……….. Pah you win Beatles man awesome I just don't get why Paul get the shit end of the stick. Maybe because he's still alive?

You clearly know a lot more than I do on the matter and I was slightly in awe of your Beatles knowledge. I'm not going to try and claim Macca is a knob or awt like that, he'll have screwed over a good number of people to get where he is, but so has everyone in that position really, all of the Beatles, everyone around them, its the same in business or any walk of life. He has lent his name to numerous worthy causes and had his face dragged in fifteen miles of shit regarding Heather Mills, and I reckon if Paul was dead he'd be regarded with greater admiration than Lennon. Lennon was also very flawed, you raise a good point about Julian, everyone looks at John with rose tinted glasses but he was an immensely flawed person - a lot of his tunes give a glimpse of this as well. I'm not really sure where I'm going with this point now but when all's said and done, they've done more good than harm and they're still the Beatles, and nothing will come close. And at least niether Lennon nor McCartney ever wrote awt as shite as Ringo Starr's Liverpool tune!

Some good points raised in your argument....here's mine
The girl is mine might be on arguable the biggest album EVER.....but its still a shite tune and after what McCartney did in the 60's and 70's it pales in comparisons.
I now how much of a c**t Lennon was, I made the mistake of reading 'the lives of John Lennon' and it kind of destroyed the image of him I had. He had a smack habit he treated all his children with contempt he was a wife beater and the most shocking of all he was an IRA sympathiser. The guy was an arse, but he was a man of peace he never cared for money or fame after the beatles split (granted he had enough of both to last him a life time.) You cant blame Yoko Ono for the problems in the beatles, Lennon could have told her to f*ck off and go home, but he didnt. Linda McCartney did her fair share of spotlight hogging with (ha!!) Wings playing the keyboard and trying to get everyone in the band to convert to veggie.
Lennons solo stuff was VERY VERY hit and miss...but the songs that were good where fucking outstandingly good Instant Karma, Working Class Hero, Jealous Guy, Power To The People and even Mother (if you like that kind of thing) and of course (yawn!!) imagine. He did his own thing with his solo work, granted a lot of it was self indulgant and the only people who got it was him and Yoko.
Its nothing to do with watching Heather Mills in 'star stories' because for one she's not a star and two i wouldn't trust a word out of her mouth, i've read enough books and seen enough interviews to form an opinion on him.
I understand the good things he's done, what about the performing school in liverpool he opened...BRILLIANT. The country will benefit from it no questions asked, his charity work is great he's just an old hippie at heart an he did get done for smoking pot, makes him slightly interesting. He is a great geniuse songwriter there's no getting away from it, I just find him smug, stuck up, self important and a bit of a dick

Ringo is defintely the most down to earth out of the lot, though only 2 of them left. You can imagine him being a proper fame rejector like, though all into perspective, he was the least talented of the lot.
