Beatles Back Catalogue To Be Remastered

The Beatles' entire back catalogue has been digitally remastered for release this September.

The extensive collection, which features all 13 of The Beatles' studio albums along with the 'Past Masters' compilations, will be released worldwide on September 9 - the same day The Beatles' 'Rock Band' game is set to come out.

A statement regarding the release said that a team of Abbey Road technicians have spent four years remastering the albums in stereo, resulting in the catalogue being available to buy at its highest fidelity since it was first released.

For a limited time each album will contain an embedded link to a special mini-documentary featuring previously unreleased snippets of The Beatles chatting in the studio and archive footage.

Each stereo album will be available to buy individually, or as a collection in a box set.

A further box set of mono recordings - called 'The Beatles In Mono' - is also being released on September 9.

The new collection is the first time The Beatles' material has been remastered for CD since 1987.

It is currently unclear whether the collection will be available digitally. Speaking last month, George Harrison's son Dhani said the group is considering launching its own online application to sell its music digitally.

I'm made up about this....There great albums but the sound quality is complete shite...(try listening to them on your i pod...guitar in one ear vocals in the other... )I understand when they started they only had 'mono' but they should have done this years ago.....I better start saving up I dread to think how much there going to cost.

Any one else interested in this??

Great find, I'm interested. I prefer Mono anyway, I'm dead funny, the mono version of Revolver that I have is ace, but I know what you mean about listening to them on ipod, not great, but on a turntable an original mono sounds amazing. If I am to get this I would probably get the Mono box set, looks ace. Cheers.

I'm interested in this, I think I'll buy a good number if not save up and splash out on the box sets. One question though - why can you never buy a Beatles CD under a tenner? It's proper odd, they're the only band who don't have anything that is reasonably priced.
Either way, I'm obviously prepared to pay proper RRP for these, should be interesting I reckon, better for the iPod aye

You can get beatles albums used on amazon for about 5 quid. That's cheap.

I'm sorry Hes a great song writer, in fact hes one of the very best. BUT hes a complete dog end, George, Ringo, and John Lennon can have my money....I struggle with the Beatles because Paul McCartney is a knob and i'll tell you one sure fire reason to justify him being such a knob...for every Blackbird, Helter Skelter and Hey Jude...Theres THE FROG SONG and The Girl is mine...his rather crap duet with Micheal Jackson and lets not forget WINGS oh yeah and for giving us Heather f**k**g Mills......Whos the w**ker now? ;D
