Just a little suggestion, although it is probably the most speculative part of making an album in terms of fan gossip, wouldn't a self-titled album be nice? I think it would look good on the shelves. Though I have always wondered, what the reason is behind a self-titled album. It's not really a timing thing, plenty of bands had self-titled debuts, Libertines waited, and Beatles left it even later. Just thought that it would be good. Maybe with another Liam painting on the cover, try to keep a little running theme with his artwork.

I don't mind what they do as long as the music is good, id buy it even it was called 'Hitlers lovechild' but I like it when a band has obviously made an effort to do an album properly, twisted wheel's debut is good song wise but the album cover etc is shite in my opinion wonder what Liam could paint for the cover, anyone seen the albums on www.paintmyalbum.net ? all classic albums done on microsoft paint would be brilliant if they used that idea in combo with some great artwork, would look class haha

I can't use paint for jack. Nightmare trying to control it. Fair play, they look pretty good, shame some of them are shit albums.

Hmm it'd be quite tricky, figuring out the artwork! The st jude, audrey hepburn face thing, has become really well recognised, so they'd have to come up with something different, something not as simple, more absract?

any image that grabs your attention is normally great for an album cover, just thought maybe it would be interesting to see a band actually use the idea of microsoft paint but only if it was done well, some of them are pretty good
maybe something to do with tokyo crows and how they steal things from anywhere to make a nest, slight pun in the direction of the enemy haha

yeah but thats not how it is anymore, music isnt just about music, so stuff like this is actually interesting.
i like mikes idea about the tokyo crows, as long as it doesnt end up looking like a goth album.

Aye true, crows are normally associated with death and other morbid shite, maybe it would work in a sgt.peppers esque way with influences being in the nest, (f*ck knows how haha) just speculation though, f*ck knows what it will end up being, I definately didn't expect the st.jude cover and I'm sure Liam already has it planned out
hopefully it will be quality and they'll do another special edition and all that

the st jude album cover is great on the retail front....cus every time you see the album cover, you knows its theirs! great marketing.
not like the enemy, where it could be absolutly anything. its good that liam actually drew it aswell, i dread to think what the results of tom clarke art work would be. ha.

What the hell is that on the enmy album?? I won't dream of listening to it but I've read handful of reviews and they all say that basically Clarke thought he was better than he was and thought he could make a masterpiece, and it's gone as wrong as it possibly could have done. I think that artwork is important, usually if an album has good artwork it helps with sales and all that crap so I hope it's good, I just thought that it could be something else worth thinking about. I'd like another Liam painting, different style, but hopefully something he's done. ELF got the nail on the head, abstract.

yeah but thats not how it is anymore, music isnt just about music, so stuff like this is actually interesting Exactly! I used to buy a lot of 7" singles on the artwork/packaging alone, if it appealed and they made something a bit different then I thought the band must be special.... although once listened most have been lost in my collection or sold on (not impressed) ;D So, yeah I do think the artwork can be just as important as the content as it can make it stand out from the rest of the crowd Hope the second album artwork will be something special...we should have a thread to discuss The Courteeners artwork really... Errrr...new songs... yeah that new song Tokyo Crows appeals to me from the description and the title, quite like UNKLE so I hope they test this one out this summer. Judging by Tear Me Apart, Good Times Are Calling & Sycophant, we could be in for a right treat
