I don't bother looking at the charts anymore, it depresses me too much with the crap that some people listen to Some people wouldn't know a quality tune if it came up and punched them in their chavvy little noses!

I hate the charts, they don't count, all they show is how stupid the british people are (other than us of course). I mean really, what's a better song, That Kiss or I love you anyway by Boyzone?? It's a piss take, fukin Pink top, what kind of a fukin name is fukin pink?? fukin dyked up bitch, fukin shite!! They have a UK top 40 and only 3 good songs in it, 2 by kings of leon as well, doesn't that show how much they stand out. Fukin kate perry!! just Fred Perrys slutty sister or summit, fukin bitch, fukin shite. Who the f**k is fukin Ne-Yo, why the f**k would you call your kid Ne-Yo, FUKIN NE-YO MY ARSE YOU FUKIN PRICK, HOPE YOU DROWN IN YOUR OWN PISS!! The charts are absolute piss and they should just be fukin stopped, an absolute giant big dose of SHITE!

charts mean very little to me as well, but they mean a lot to record company's, and this chart place has to be disappointing, as they are currently on a uk tour, and the manchester downloads counted, also, its not on the album, so they must of been hoping for top 20, it doesnt matter to me where it charts, but it matters for the band. radio 1 have been no help, they f**kin do my head in, they never played the smiths (daytime), and refuse to play morrissey, he's ok because his fanbase is so big he doesnt need them, but with the courteeners its going to be harder for the band, as in, more tours, coz we all know how good they are live, etc, anyhow i've left my jacket... hanging

I tell you, if I win the lottery next week, I will personally put £1 million towards buying that kiss on single, just for the sake of the charts, and I will give them all away in the streets.

There's nothing in Britain to help promote bands any more. Radio 1 doesn't do it, TOTP is defunct, bands have to create their own promotion and success which only goes so far. It's a bad state we're in at the moment, because its a downward spiral that bands dont get enough promotion, don't get in the charts, don't get promotoin from that, tours stop doing as well, the band gets less motivated, its happened in many a case with such talented bands like. The Apollo download counted a seperate chart entry I think. What confuses me though is that it was number 5 in the midweek charts! Then it managed to slip 31 places down over the course of half a week, probably because of all the pre-orders for the 3 formats for a fiver....but its still irritating. The charts don't matter but it is good promotion I suppose. Radio 1 didn't playlist them either, which is a joke. HANG THE DJ

Charity??? Anyway.......I personally think that generally people judge a song as soon as they have heard it, catchy meaningless songs like pink etc get stuck in peoples heads straight away, not many people care about the lyrics in a song I think we are in a minority which is why good bands with top class songs don't do that well, people are just to lazy to bother understanding what a song means etc KOL have only just become nationally recognised (about time) but thats mainly due to sex on fire being v v v catchy and to some people controversial A great example of why the courteeners don't do that well nationally was when I was walking to the apollo, some guy walking past me said to his mate "the courteeners? who the fucks that? never heard of them before" But of course, i don't care what everyone else thinks, just a shame as they deserve some recognition

I think as long as the albums keep selling and the gigs keep selling out then the record company will be happy enough. Singles and their sales count for very little these days, gigs are where the money is. As for the band themselves, of course they want to chart a bit higher but as soon as they step out on stage with thousands on people singing their songs back at them I'm sure they'll soon cheer up!

Singles charts are pretty poor. The only thing worth taking note of is the album sales in my opinion. No one buys singles now. The only worrying thing is, is that people in charge of the Record companies want to see a financial return for their investment in a band. Not all bands will be able to bring out a 'Definetly Maybe' or 'Whatever People Say IATWIN' on their first offering. St Jude was indeed a top album, and if I remember correctly did well in the album charts when it debuded, and this has enabled them to gain the fan base that I think will make their next album a success as well. It is one of my favourite albums, hence why I am on this forum.
However, you can not expect everyone to like this track they have just released. To be honest I think it is quite poor after hearing it over these past 4 weeks or so. I certainly wouldnt have released it if I were them. It is fairly generic in my opinion. They have got other tracks that I think would have made more of an impact,, like Jacket or Saw this and fort of you (although I dont think that should ahve been a single)
I have not really been up to date with Courteeners info recently, so can anyone tell me when the next album will be released? If it is not for a while, I dont understand why they would have brought this tune out. To keep their name out there perhaps? I dont think they should have released it, but hey thats just me. You will probably all disagree.
I dont think there is any need to worry about this chart position, its fairly meaningless, maybe not for the band, as they take pride in their work but in the grand scheme of the Courteeners.

Why do we even look at the charts? They lost all recognition years ago and have become a farce! They used to be quite interesting (remember Oasis vs Blur, was a major battle for No.1) but have never really been overrun with guitar bands anyway, always been pop & always will be! Yeah it is a shame on such a low position as the first week of entry is usually the highest it'll get Ah well, at least most of the fans like it. BTW Radio 1 can shove the 7" right up their arse!

The only people who buy singles are pretty much young girls. They like the x factor and gossip magazines. The music they buy reflects this as well. That is why sh1t like Pink and other (sorry I dont know who are in the charts at the mo) awfull artists dominate the charts. Not a suprise.
