He's alright, he's a showman like and I don't mind the whole charity thing, if he's doing sumat and making a difference I suppose you can't fault him. Its annoying but it's easy to put up with. But I can't compare him in any way to Morrissey nor Ian Brown nor Liam Gallagher nor Joe Strummer nor Elvis or any other of the greats. The others are greats because of just how much they put in and just how much they become the music and it is them and all that business. The passion, everything

I'll go Liam G, Outstanding singer, always gives it 100% on stage, when he turns up. Had the rock n roll attitude got nicked a few times is turning into a good songwriter. Never bullshitted or lied.
Morrissey 2nd fucking brilliant, articulate intelligent, misunderstood. Wrote some of the best musical lines ever. Never cared what anyone else thought or said....Absolute quality
Gotta give Bono a mention too just for his voice and some of the songs he's written. Granted everything this side of the millennium has been awful but he's done his bit. Should keep his nose out of politics though.
Could go on Bob Marley, Hendrix, Ian Brown, Rotten, Jay-Z, Ian Curtis, Kurdt Cobain and get on this one FREDDIE MURCURY. HE WAS THE BOLLOCKS AT LIVE AID!!!!

thats why i ruled out liamG fuse, i dont care that hes abit of a prick or whatever cus thats just the rock n roll attitude like you say, and i love songbird i think hes a good songwriter.
but on stage he bores the absolute shit out of me, oasis on the whole. they just play their songs and not much else, relying on like , their (quality yeah) singalong lyrics to entertain the crowd more than their own performance. hope im clear with that =/ its hard to explain.

Yeah understand totally, I wasn't going to go and see them this tour becuase every tour its the same fucking songs....Lazy like. But my missis payed so you know the score But he seems to mean it more than anyone else STILL.....I like Alex Turner but he seems souless in comparision, better songwritter with out doubt but its about everything for me......You need front and belief even if you cant sing that well attiude and passion will get you through. Cant believe I left Elvis out.........Sorry Elvis if your watching!! He was briliant

Yeah, but its good that they've jigged up the set list a bit now...if I had the money I'd go see them! Liam Gallagher is a great frontman just beacuse he had no bullshit about him, he just stood there almost, like Ian Brown did, its class. Sumat proper captivating about it. I'd never cite Jagger as great for being a frontman, and I love the Stones and know they are a great great band and Mick is a genius songwriter, but I agree with Lennon's argument against Jagger as a frontman and that he (to quote Lennon) "resurrected bullshit movement...all that wiggling your arse stuff"

still think a performer should like, perform and not just sing their songs.
i think i have soft spot for frontmen with guitars though. maybe thats why i dont like them so much. but on the other hand, while i think noel gallagher is a legend, he bores the hell out of me (live) aswell. he looks like hes scared of hurting his guitar.
but its dead subjective like, i like dead energetic movements from a frontman so yano.

I didn't mean that U2 weren't good etc, just that bono isn't the best frontman of ALL TIME lol
No where near comparisons with Elvis for example
To be honest its quite hard to think who is the greatest, not liam G, id say Morrissey or Ian Curtis, as they kinda defined their bands (no disrespect to marr and the latter, but this is about frontmen)

I'll go Liam G, Outstanding singer, always gives it 100% on stage, when he turns up. Now that is certainly not true. He has been awfull on numerous occasions. So much so Noel threatened not to let him sing again if I remember correctly. I think 2 years ago at the Brit awards it was one of the worst vocals I have ever heard. Thank god it seems that he has turned that around. We have all come to love Liam as a dont give a shit front man. Rock and Roll through an through. He is a top singer, but attitude aside, he must give the fans a good performance. They have paid their money. A few times over recent years he has not done so and left fans and his band disapointed. I dont care what Bono has done for Charity or anything. He is a knob head. I cant stand him and Geldoff. I wish someone would tell Geldoff to put a leash on his children. They are as bad. I dont think I have ever liked one U2 song. Take those shades off and stop performing. I am glad freddie Mercury got a few mentions. I had him in my list, He is an absolute monster of a front man. He had it all.

Glad you agree about Bono most of you, brilliant voice and my all time fave performer, that's in terms of the act he puts on on stage, but he hasn't as much passion as Mozza and the likes.

It's way too hard to say in my opinion, especially as Ive never personally seen the smiths, U2, elvis, joy division, the stone roses live before, only seen videos
Anyone here seen any of them live?
