Glastonbury was a truly wonderful experience !
The Courteeners set was class. I arrived at the John Peel stage about half an hour before they were due to play.
I was interviewed for BBC Three and asked a few questions:
1) Why do you like The Courteeners ?
2) What is your favourite song and why ?
Though i was swigging from a bottle of Strongbow at the time, i managed to give fairly extensive and reasonable answers.
I stated how i thought the band followed in the tradition of great Manchester bands such as Joy Division, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Oasis etc though at the same time the lads are totally unique and making their own way in an individual mould.
I also spoke of how Liam had a great stage presence and mentioned in reference to question 2, how though he is sometimes criticised for supposedly being "lad rock" he has truly great songwriting skills. I expressed how Please Dont was my favourite song and showed how Liam can write poignant and great lyrics .
Hopefully the interview should be broadcast in the next few months.
Over the course of the five best days of my life, i managed to see The Courteeners, Glasvegas, The Paddingtons, The Last Shadow Puppets ft Jack White and Matt Helders, Laura Marling, The Paddingtons, Carl Barat, The Verve, The Kings of Leon (Front row, my friend got one of Nathan Followhill's drumsticks), , White Denim (Who i met and they were great guys) and many other weird and wonderful sights, roll on Glastonbury 2009.
