After the response caused from MEN article that was posted by shebangsthedrums I thought we should have a thread specially for all your rants about the NME! It could just be another stupid comment they printed or the current band in their build 'em up/knock 'em down book of savage approach to sales. We all know that The Courteeners are just one of the many bands they use and abuse to their favour, that's why this should be off topic. By all means carry on posting everything about our favourite band in the general category but use this for the overall garbage from music's gutter press...

Haha I buy it all the time just to see what is going on but you have to take what they say with a pinh of salt...I ahve to admit they write well about Pete D tho but I think he gives them a lot back...like the free vinyl and his jail book I know what you man bout the digs to the Courteeners This week they have Liam's top tracks and then the caption for the photo is having a dig but 2bh it was quite interesting reading his top songs He shares a lot of music taste with me which may be why im so into what he writes

To be popular with the NME you have to constantly give to them, Pete Doherty, as said before, does tons for them and he gets a good press. The Cribs and the Manics did that big gig and NME has sang their praises every since. Mozzer turns down the NME big gig, look what happened to him.

Thinking about though - NME are really the root cause of many of the 'myths' about the Courteeners well Liam- I think a lot of it has stemmed from that 'Gob Almighty' interview when they got the poor lad drunk and asked him about the enemy and hard-fi - he was just been honest about it I think the enemy are pile of poo but I understand why ppl like them it's all about different taste (and some ppl find dwarf like creatures a turn on) but Hard-fi come on I don't know anyone who likes them - not anyone with half a brain anyway....
But I do sometimes buy NME - but tends to be when it's got something spec in and I save it. Like when the monkeys did LCC - bought that one and after Leeds fest - although most of it is about Reading - but that is the north south thing cropping up again!
And....I've just noticed in this weeks NME page 21 - some doyle calling liam at C U Next Tuesday for wearing his own tshirt band's t-shirt on stage - and the lovely NME agreeing with the daft cow!

The NME is long past its sell by date they should have stopped printing it the day Noel Gallagher minced in to Number 10 Downing Street.
It reached its peak in 1997, they have done some good stuff in the interim period, But its just gash. I only buy Q now.
99% of the bands they review or interview are bobbins (IMO....im getting on a bit)
It wont be around for much longer thank f*ck.
The best way to make them pay for the snide comments and bullshit is just stop buying the fucking thing.
Get a music monthly which I think is better anyway.
