I thinks its gonna be a bit different, but hopefully they keep it less commercial, i think maybe now they have their fanbase they could probably be a bit more daring and like has been said keep it more like the original demos I do however prefer some of the album versions for songs such as Please Dont but it may just be because they have been produced etc and the sound quality is better

yes, Please Don't is the shining example of how the better production has enhanced the sound quality and therefore perfected the song in some cases, but otherwise, many of the songs lost their... "roughness", for lack of a better word.

cavorting, nyd nyd, fallowfield, if it wasnt for me are all better as demos. cavorting and nyd nyd single was quality. how come is better acoustic in my opinion. if it wasnt for me has been spoiled i recon, i cant listen to it on the album, i can only listen to the demo.....which is class.
more of the same (songwise) on the second album, a bit of a change (production wise) on the second album! i think bide your time i ace on the album, and that wasnt done by stephen street, acrylic is good aswell.
stephen street is responsible for wtysl tho.....supreme!

the thing is though, to me, being in a band is all about progression. Why record an album in a top studio, only to purposely make it sound like it was recording in a garage

well like i said, it was exactly that rawness that made the courteeners what they are, in my opinion. Although i agree that a band has to progress and evolve, i feel that since the recordings, some of the songs just sound too similar to the drivel produced by the likes of the pigeon detectives and scouting for girls etc etc. Yaknow, just your run-off-the-mill, generic "indie".
kinney's right about If It Wasn't For Me; totally ruined on the album version.
