How come is really weird for me. It is as if Liam was living with me at uni. I had a house mate for 3 years who was annoyingly good looking, funny, nice, good at sport, everyone liked him. He shagged every fit bird at our uni, they all loved him. He was never arrogant with it, never boasted about it. Was actually quite hard to get info out of him. How Come is written about my housemate Matt to a T!!!!!

So many I can relate to: Acrylic - My cousin tries to write witty songs, fails, they are crap, and I told him how to write and he stopped cos' he didn't like my style.
How Come - A mate of mine recently got his first girlfriend which he unfortunately doesn't shut up about and goes on everyday about how she is the first person he has shagged whilst in a relationship, which I hate to admit is to my jelousy for the fact that he probably knobs more birds in a week than I will in the next 10 years.
What took you so Long - Alot of people in general, not any in particular that I know will hear a song on the radio by Arctic Monkeys or whoever and download the song plus a couple more singles and go around telling the world that they are a massive fan because of the above, I'm sure that you can all relate to someone like this.
NYD NYD - Just sums up my w**ker boss at work, he saw me, hence he hated me just bacause of the first few words out of my mouth and the way I look.
Could go on forever like but not going to, sure you lot could do the same though so I won't bore you.

relate to? oh well here goes
not nineteen forever - i had just broke up with my girlfriend and i was being an absolute ponce about it, drinknig too much and generally overreacting and my current girlfriend lifted me up from it n made me happy again. i cant even remember how.
an ex is an ex for a reason - not so much relate to, but at the academy 1 gig i had my ex girlfriend on my shoulders for this, quite an apt moment.
please dont - my current girlfriend, i can see it becoming very apt when we split up.
fallowfield hillbilly - lots and lots of people, particularly this lad in psychology who CAN play guitar but still shouts at me cus i dont wana fawnicate thom yorke

HAHA, dontask, you say that it will be very apt 'when you split up with her', isn't that very negative?? This is why I don't like having relationships at my age, because sooo many people split up with people after a short time and nothing ever lasts (exactly what the song says), I'm never going to bother getting into a relationship until I have a proper job and can afford to spend so much time with someone else because I know that it won't last. This is exactly what the song says though, although I don't know what the lyric 'these type of relationships' is actually refering to, but you get the picture.

Cal your gonna be a rock n roll star the girls will be throwing themselves at you!
serious relationships are for grown ups - if it starts getting stressful and not fun dump em..that's what I say! I can give girl advice as well as makeup etc if you boys want me to!
back to the album - I know I can relate to lots of the songs which shows the bands appeal - it's not just a young lad's propective of life - it's most teenage and 20 somethings...
I've had ppl slate that don't know - cos they 'think' they know what I'm like...had a ex that tried to get me jealous when I didn't care...and I have been too tired to eat and too hungry to sleep many a time - it's the worst!
But as this thread is about the second album....let's just hope for more the same - normal stuff we can all relate to.

i've mentioned it a few times around the forum, but i think some of the tracks on St Jude are too mainstream and commercially-friendly. The original versions of NYDNYD, Aftershow, If It Wasn't For Me and Fallowfield - although good tracks on the album - are much better in my opinion.
So I hope that in the second album they revert to being more powerful and meaningful with less studio mixing if you know what i mean. Then they'd have something original, new and special. In effect, they need to evolve by sort of going back, if that makes any sense =]

I don't think the Aftershow demo is better than the album version. The album version is way more powerful. At first, I preferred the demo versions over the ones on St. Jude. But that kinda changed over the time. The only song that doesn't really do it for me, is How Come. Not that it’s a horrible song or anything, the acoustic demo is amazing.

I agree with "amber". Upon first listening of St. Jude I was a little dissapointed that I prefered the original versions, particularly in relation to "Fallowfield Hillbilly". However, in retospect I now appreciate the album versions much more.

I still prefer NYD NYD on Cavorting, the demo of If It Wasnt For Me and the acoustic version of How Come but it makes no difference to how good an album St Jude is, really. Everyone has their preferences, thats why Hatful of Hollow is held in more high regard than The Smiths
