What night, I had a 220 mile trip home straight after the gig but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. came down the queue as well saying they were filming for a dvd! Wow, if we get a dvd that would make the night complete, so we can relive it again, and again, and again..........and again. Liam didn't half loose his rag with that white guitar, during You Overdid It Doll the way he slung it across the stage I thought he was having problems with it earlier in the gig, the red one appeared, certainly before I was expecting to see it. Biggest surpise was when Liam suddenly appeared on a podium towards the back of the crowd to do his solo stint, those were special moments, not to mention funny at times, "House Lights" ;D and when a girl in the crowd got to sing the last line of The Rest Of the World Has Gone Home when Liam turned the microphone round for the crowd to sing, and it fell over ;D The selist was for those who don't know and want to know: The Opener Will It Be This Way Forever? Acrylic Cavorting Good Times Are Calling Cross My Heart & Hope To Fly Lullaby Please Don't Scratch You Name Upon My Lips Sycophant Bide Your Time Take Over The World That Kiss Cameo Brooch Fallowfield Hillbilly How Come No You Didn't, No You Don't The Rest Of the World Has Gone Home You Over Did It Doll Not Nineteen Forever What Took You So Long?

There were camera's everywhere, I'm praying for one. I'm still reliving last night in my head even now, it was just too good. It'll take a very long to top it, so many funny parts too. "we started this band four and a half years ago, and we'd never have thought that we'd be here today. Only joking, of course we fucking did.''
brilliant.

^ Fucking hell, the crowd was WILD! Thinking of the show at Paredes de Coura and comparing it to this makes me laugh out loud... you can't imagine how ridiculous our crowd was. Jeez, I wish I'd been there!

That has been the craziest Courteeners gig I have been to but yet also the most triumphant. It seemed all the St.Jude tunes sent everything into chaos then a Falcon tune would be played and everyone would ensue in a large chorus.
Both underground & stadium mixed into one.
Also this may be totally false, but I felt like he refrained from shouty singing like he does at the end of verses in certain songs and pulling away from the mic mid verse, maybe he was trying to give a flawless vocal performance for a DVD.

The band took the MEN like a duck to water. They looked very comfortable, many a band have looked out of their depth on that stage, but The Courteeners stepped up to the plate and delivered. The strings worked a treat, along with Liam's solo bit in the middle. A great and very confident performance.
A lot of the crowd on Friday may only go to one or two gigs a year, so for The Courteeners to nail it infront of those people, they have gained fans for life who will go out and buy tickets and albums upon every release. They left a lasting impression on a lot of people, which was absolutely cracking.
It has been a fantastic week of gigs, the band are sounding class and, from what i've seen, they've been going down a treat. A slightly changed setlist has worked well, with Falcon having had time to settle. Overall, the band have raised the bar big time.
Maybe the music press, newspapers, radio and tv might sit up and take notice now, or maybe not. 16,000 people isn't just a bit of good luck.
Just to add, be sure to purchase The Big Issue (Northern version) this week (06/12 edition), Liam is on the front cover.
A top week of gigs, had a great time both in and out of the venues....Bring on Delamere Forest on 2nd July.
God bless the band.

Did anyone get any of the new merch? And what did people think of I Am Kloot's reception? From where I was nobody was listening and chants erupted while he was playing.

I didn't like the new t-shirts or jumpers, thought they looked pretty shit. Much prefer my black falcon t-shirt looks miles better.
I Am Kloot was a weird one, they sort of killed the atmosphere that Miles Kane had started to create, the support act should have been much more up tempo or just Miles playing before them. Didn't really rate I Am Kloot.
Not that they aren't talented, don't get me wrong but when I saw them come on with an acoustic guitar and a bass player who was sat down then I thought that this wasn't to be the right act.

Kind of my feelings exactly, just not the right band when everyone is up for it and I think it's inevitable they're not going to get a good reception.
