I second Fergal, greens policies seem to be just impossible, they are single minded and want everybody to be as them, but just dont consider the millions of other factors. Somewhat resembles those Conservatives.....

Only Labour look fit enough to run the country, and that's saying something

UKIP? BNP but for the upper-classes... Haha this could be funny, only for the fact that some probably believe its true. It's always struck me the lack of black cabinet/shadow cabinet ministers the bigger parties seem to not have. Off the top I can only think of Paul Boateng. Whats up is there none around considered good enough? On another point....anyone else think it strange that liberals could have more votes than any other party yet still finish 3rd,

unfortunately Greens dont have a south ribble candidate so its in the air for me at the moment. Libs or Labour. Out of curiosity, how come you support Green? Their policies seem incredibly unenforcable, wishy washy and single minded, just to me like I appreciate that things like a 8.10 minimum wage seem abit fairytaleesque. However, because I dont drive, a dip in the cost of public transport is something I'd hugely appreciate and something that might encourage more to use it which is essential to the environment. I dont think they are ready to run the country but I think if they had a little more influence it would be a very good thing. Definitely got the right priorites.

Haven't been on here for a while....educating the youth of the socially and economically deprived (middlesbrough) has taken over, however I knew you lot wouldn't let me down and would have some election stuff on.
I have always voted cos I don't think you can moan if you don't vote.
And I think they are doing a lot to try and encourage folks to vote (facebook pages; tv debate; interview on BBC3).
I think it's easy to point the blame on Labour of the problems of the country but I think the past 13 years on the whole have been good.
One of the most encouraging things labour has done is buidling new schools....in my area (Redcar and Cleveland) every single school has a new building...and pretty much all of the schools is Middlesbrough have them. All the college's have new facilities as well.
Now I know it's easy for me to focus on that being a teacher...but let's face it - it's the best way to make change in this country...concentrate on raising the standards in education.
I think the problem is ppl look at the policies and just look at which party will benefit them personally rather than looking at the big picture...

Labour worked wonders with education on the whole, it was Blairs priority and he delivered.
You can't blame the economic downfall on Labour, it happened all over the world, it couldn't have been stopped by any goverment, and frankly, Brown did a good job and keeping it as it is, it would have been alot worse under another goverment. The Tories just play on this to get people on there side, wait for a gap to appear then poke at it.

couldnt have been avoided and was only made worse last time around by the Tories short term solutions
chezza is right and Im guilty of being biased but I just think something needs to be done environmentally on a serious level. Take all the massive taxes off of thnigs like alcohol and tobacco and heap it all on fucking fuel I say. Its running out anyway so that will be happening at some point.

One of my friends said the other day 'I might just vote conservative'... I can remember (very vaguely) life under the rule of Maggie Thatcher and this country was not nice....as for John Major! She certainly would not want a conservative government she works as a TA in a primary school!
Ant is rite is was a gobal recession and the economey had grown year on year it has to stop at some point. I agree about the enviroment dontask but I think it's difficult for ppl who live in rural areas as I do....we just don't have the transport links so we need cars.
I got the bus a few months back - it cost me £2.50 to go 10 miles and it took 40 mins! It's a ten minute drive! I think places that have the good transport links should have to pay xtra in charges and road tax...while they work on improving public serives in other areas.

I agree that it can be a pain in the ass if things arent in place.

Lack of public transport/over costly public transport can be annoying, and I know as near me there's a lot of rural villages and that, to get to my girlfriends I have to pay £3.60 for a ten minute bus journey, but it's about supply and demand - the bus costs that much because there's never anyone on there. To run these services you need the costs to be high or else they're non achievable. I see that you have to be slightly Thatcherite in the belief that if public services don't have the demand, you've got to be businesslike about how you're going to deal with them, just obviously not to the extent of abolition.

well they'd also increase tax depending on your mileage to the point where its preferred. its things like this though when you begin to wonder if they can actually deliver.
