We've all basically heard the album, but are we gonna like the new mixes?
I love the demos and it would be weird those songs sounding different to me.
Same thing happened with Reverend, I loved the demos but found the album tracks wernt as strong, took me awhile to adjust.

with such a legend like stephen street behind the mixing desk, i cant see how it can go wrong really. this is a man who evolved the smiths from punky indie and to the big beautiful orchestral giants that some of their later music is; its also the man who stopped babyshambles from being crap and overly ragged, tightened them up and made a classic out of "Shotters Nation", i have full faith in the talents of Stephen Street and The Courteeners that this album will not only not let us down, not only be great, but be of classic status synonomous with Definately Maybe, The Stone Roses, The Queen Is Dead etc...Liam Fray also naturally agrees haha

Touche, but its more a case of what the ear is used to not how the good the producer is

I reckon Street will do well with the Courteeners as he did well with The Pigeon Detectives who have quite a similar sound. However as a Babyshambles fan I wasn't really that happy with what he did with their sound. In the Mick Jones era of Babyshambles they had a much sharper edgy sound which Street seems to have fixed. Admittedly it's a class album I just prefer the Mick Jones stuff.

ah nope i dont like the stuff mick jones produced of babyshambles, but it was a bit edgier. mick jones is a legend, everything he did in the clash and then later on producing the libertines was mega

dont even dare compare the courteeners to fucking pigeon detectives. no comparisson xD i really do agree with what ste says tho, because tunes can often sound alien and abnormal once you hear the final mixed version. imo, stay safe and go gigs for live music

ive got full faith in it. Although i didnt like Slowdown off the What Took You So Long single, bit OVERproduced if you ask me Love the new version but not a fan of the new version of kokaine kim atall and prefer listening to live versions. Not often that demo's are improved and as has been said its often left in dissapointment however all courteeners seem to have been improved and the album will sound immense if so far is anything to go by

For me its the same as when Arctic Monkeys brought out thier 1st album, I was weary as I loved the demos but the quality of the songs will shine through on the album. You will probably like the demos better at first because thats how you got into the band through through the demos but the album will be banging, no problem!

I hope am proved wrong and I hope I still listen to it in 10 years.....but I really have my doubts.
I hope all the life's not kicked out of the songs and to leave Acrylic off is stupid. I presume that was a record label decision.
I really want it to be the bollocks.......am preying its the bollocks!!

Yeah the decision to leave Acrylic off the album seemed perculiar to me, with it being their best known song and it could draw people into the album. However they probably thought it would be better to get some newer songs out there and enhance their back catalogue.
