10/10
Busted were a band that live long in the memory of most, and rightly so. Debut self titled album, 'Busted', served up more pop/rock nuggets than thought possible by the music loving youth of the early decade. Starting with classic, 'What I Go To School For', nobody can deny the sheer force of this incredible song. Moving onto 'Crash And Burn', you'd be forgiven to think that this album was basically a hit parade. With the classic line, 'You're so fit, and you know it', it was rumoured that Mike Skinner took inspiration in this line for his hit, 'Fit But You Know It'. It sums up Busted's music that a renowned artist such as skinner took inspiration in the truly beautiful music that Busted made. Further testament to Busted's ability is the way they make a song that is essentially an ode to Britney Spears, sound like pop perfection. With a line of fun songs over, next comes ballad, 'Losing You'. This song's sheer power never fails to bring a tear to the eye of a veteran Busted lover. Even people who are not Busted fans will instantly recognize classic, 'Year 3000'. Arguably the song of the past 100 years, it speaks for itself. The rest of the album is consistent with the powerfully moving pop/rock song, and one song makes you reflect on what could have been. 'Let's go back let's rewind to the days that remind me of all the good times that we spent together, and I don't know why we just let it all slide when we both knew inside we were right for each other.' It sums up the split of Busted, and I know I would give anything to be able to sing the last line of the chorus to them and maybe force a re-union. 'I don't know what to do, cos' you're everything I knew. How could you just walk out of my life, without even giving a reason?' They will live on forever, as possibly the most celebrated artists of the past decade.
