If find it amazing how NME still manage to write crap reviews even when its a positive one haha
great promotion for them, should help album sales but as Ant said the review (for the 'fans') doesn't really tell us anything
can't believe they are still banging on about oasis but it comes hand in hand with beinf from Manchester unfortunately
Oasis was the last chapter, courteeners are the next one so it will continue to get mentioned until the next new band from 'manchester' comes along

This Oasis baton thing really has to be let go sooner rather than later. The Courteeners, yes are influenced by Oasis, James, Stone Roses, The Smiths, Elbow etc. and yes, they're from Manchester, but they're developing their own sound and are moving up to the next level in terms of quality. The Courteeners should be judged in reviews solely on what they are, rather than the next 'band' in line. Hopefully 2010 will be The Courteeners year.

unfortunately this isnt just the courteeners, all journalists do it, muse get compared to radiohead in nearly every review, even though radiohead are now arty and muse more classical. ridiculous.
