I'll probably send one in about this, love it though. "The people have spoken louder than the critics" quality.

with a circulation of 40k per week, considering 10k went to manchester gig im guessing this was a factor in putting them on front cover?

Of course, but that is what the NME do. With bands such as The Courteeners and Oasis they always make sarcastic or negative comments towards them but continue to put them on the cover, mainly due to the large fan bases. Even the smallest snippet of Oasis related news seems to make the front cover. In my opinion, if you're going to continually berate the band, leave them off your front cover. Don't have your petty, lazy views but then splash them across your magazine to sell more copies.

Couldn't agree more Christian, I'll bet the magazine is full of shite apart from The Courteeners bit, front cover to sell more magazines.

it was 32,000 out of 36,000 Sean. It's crap interview in my opinion. I bought it, cut the cover and the article out for my wall and binned the rest. Learn nothing new from it, other than the rest of the band weren't even there. Liam his usual funny self, admits he was naive early on in the bands career, Liam looks fit on the main picture at start of article, that's it

I agree Ant
Crap article but its good promotion for the band
People who were unsure/don't like the band may get swayed into giving them another chance

Not a bad article I thought really, I think the NME have realised that they'll be able to sell more copies being pro-Courteeners, and their music has got better, so it seems natural. And the publicity helps the band. Not a bad article though, NME articles are always stuffed with questionable opinions but it was quite favourable, no backhanded compliments like usual or awt.

to be fair they did talk about the rest of the band and why they weren't there. i enjoyed it and them getting their second cover is a good thing at the end of the day.

Interview was alright, but rest of the magazine wasn't worth reading :/ I'm keeping the article, then chucking the rest of it
