commerialised for radio, whats with all the random laser beam synths haha has a new order feel to it in parts as with cross my heart
but its good! great song, would be better more rock N roll but they seem to be trying to move away from that, probably for good reason, may make them more successful

I'm worried. As Mike said, don't want this to be a whole commercialized thing, to make them big. I thought it was alright, like I said it may grow on me, but I'm not going to jump on the whole liking it because it's a Courteeners song band wagon, I still expect more from the rest of the album...

I don't think anyone's jumping on a band wagon, it's a good some, very catchy. Liam told us it would be different, could make or break them, we'll have to see. Based on the two new songs we have, and Good Times and Sycophant. I think it could make them bigger, and really of course a band want's to get bigger.

I love it, stood out at the gigs and the chorus is immense. Recorded it all but it's disappeared

I might love it soon, don't get me wrong. Just I don't see how people can love it after 1 listen, it's daft.
And I'm all for them getting big, but through maknig what they want, not what the radio want.

Maybe that's the same thing Ant?

I'm with Ant on this one, but I doubt they would release a 1st single that wasn't one of the better songs, or a good potrayal of the whole album... I'm gonna wait and listen to the album on We7 or something before I buy it now.

I think that they may be taking a leaf out of Kasabian's book. And producing the song in the studio, to sell records then play it "Properly" live

I've already bought it, on the basis that I lvoed the first and I have more faith in Liam than anyone else in the world right now to make good music, and I'm not trying to doubt his ability because clearly he can take over the world (excuse the pun) and I'm still sure I'll love the album, just think some people are crazy liking it after 1 frigin listen!! Still expect more from the album anyway...

They've said in the past about a lack of radio play, hinted at the fact that st.jude would probably have been more successful if so
New stuff in addition to this suggests that they may be aiming for more radio friendly tunes, still good songs I should stress, just more suited for radio
radio killed the rock star? don't think so, not live anyway

That chorus just hit me, that's why I like it. At the end of the day we know what we're getting with the band, Cross My Heart.. was quality and this will grow and grow. The tune wouldn't have fit with an indie drum beat so that's what they employed and fair play to them, just tell me a better tune around at the moment.

i read somewhere, probably (unreliable) Wikipedia, that their record label wanted them to go for a more 'snow patrol' approach to their second album, and this is where the band's opinions differed to those of the record label's.
I like this new sound, and i bet there will be contrasting songs on the album, like some going for a synthensised sound and other just pure rock n roll tunes.

There's no good tunes around at the moment Sean, so I can't.
