This could be a new Era!!!!! i mean f*ck they have prospect,, and we've been waiting for a Massive British Indie Band forever, but also it's great that you can see how influenced they are from past generations. I mean "Acrylics" intro is extremly johnny marr esc when The Smiths came out with "This Charming Man", and there is flickers of poet genius throughout many songs, and as Morrissey said in the NME there aint no interesting music atm that actually has some sentiment. what do you think? ?

i wholeheartedly agree mate, the courteeners for me seem like the one we've been waiting for, the oasis/stone roses/smiths of our generation. there is an element of the manc bands in there, the poetry of the smiths, the attitude of the stone roses, the energy and passion of oasis, its the perfect combination, plus they dont sound like a re-hash of all the bands that are around now, im hoping that they are the one

I also think there's a definiate Libertines influence too.
They've never citied them as an influence but to me they sound more like them than anyone.

I think they will be huge this year, they have the sound, the songs, the lyrics and definitely got the attitude to make the big time With the album coming out soon it'll get 'em noticed a lot more, I don't think many people are aware of them yet
I loved the whole madchester scene, up there with '77 punk era! The Courteeners make me want to listen to those bands but they DO have their own sound, I hate the whole sound-a-like thing that the media always use, all bands have their influences (as said in here) and wouldn't be around if they didn't
The Courteeners sound like The Courteeners
