As everybody should know, it is Remembrance Sunday tomorrow and I think it's appropriate that we should show the respect for the people who lay down their lives for the sake of our freedom. Not just those in the World War's but those before and after. Watching the news is deeply depressing when it's starting to become a daily basis that men and women lose their lives in Afghanistan. Whatever your beliefs about war, I for one despise the fact that countries have to go to war. Having to use violence to sort our problems just shows how primitive we as human beings are to have to resort to such actions. And whilst my beliefs are firmly against war, this should not be about me and my pacifist opinion. I will absolutely continue to support and have the greatest and utmost respect for those who put their lives at risk. Whilst the World War generation continues to leave us, I think it is in our interest of those to continue the tradition and honour those magnificent and brave heroes and never let them be forgotten, every single one of them. Lest we forget.

I have a poppy, but nobody else wears one. The people came to my form the other day and I think about 3 or 4 people gave money in. I'll show my respect too, I can't even imagine going to war or in the army so I have the utmost respect for the people out there.

sad isn't it. people are too wrapped up in their own selfish lives to stand still and just think for two minutes.

Spot on. At work today at 11 all our staff stood at the front of the shop for the two minutes silence, I felt that was a good move. It seems Rememberence Day has more weight to it this year, with the way Afghanistan's going and that, people should pay more respect to it.

Same fergal, was nice that we did it. A customer said to another member of staff 'is there any service?' and we told her there was a silence, and she said 'all a waste of time this though isn't it?' I was angry at that, think she'd understand if she had a member of family fighting, but there is always people like that isn't there

I referee Sunday league football and the one team didn't even know why we were doing a minute's silence. I was pretty pissed off that I had to explain it to them, then one of the kids proceeded to talk through it. Absolutely disgraceful.
