Rooney is not anywhere near being as good as them, but better than players like Robinho and Adebayor. Adebayor when he's on form is as good as Rooney, same with Robinho.

As if adebayor, robinho, benzema are better than rooney
Rooney is a much better player than you give him credit for and its showing so far this season
Without ronaldo his quality is showing playing in his preferred position
Also id like to ask how are England when rooney doesn't play? gerrard/lampard are club players (hopefully capello can sort it) and rarely show up for england when it matters, rooney has been great for his country
Surely for a player to be 'great' as you suggest the above to be they must be great for club and country

Gerrard always delivers on the big occasions, as does Lampard. At least they don't get us chucked out of a quarter final.

Really though Sean, don't care who you support, you have to admit that Rooney is one of the best players in thw world. The city strikers can only dream about being as good as Rooney, I know he has alot on his shoulders now Ronaldo has left but he can live up to it, without doubt. I personally think that he can go on to be one of United greatest ever players, and will definitely challenge Sir Bob for highest goalscorer for the club  |

Give an example of gerrard/lampard in an important competition/qualifier when it matters then?
Rooney V Croatia in the euros?
Remember lampard/gerrard missing a few penalties for england when it mattered, delivered well there

im actually with mike on this one, they deliver consistently at club level but both have pretty average international reputation. rooney went a long time without doing anything too but they are all pulling their fingers out. id have heskey alongside owen up front anyway.

gerrard scored against trinidad and tobago in a qualifier in the last 10 minutes sometime, both scored 2 against croatia and lampard has been a consistent penalty converter lately and scored a lot of goals. rooney likewise missed about 10 sitters in that friendly. and no he's not one of the best players in the world, messi, ronaldo, iniesta, gerrard, torres are the best in the world and he's not up to that level.

no i'm from northampton who i follow also, i moved to america when i was 11 and to chester when i was 13. but my dads from liverpool so i'm not just a glory hunter. and i tried going to chester matches but they lost every single one, got relegated and are now bottom of the bsp with -21 points. and i'm going with 3-1 city.
