I agree yeah. It's almost like an investment if you buy the cd where's you can easily forget about it if you pay nothing. You're more likely to keep listening and listening and eventually like it in the end. Maybe that's why I don't like Muse's new album.

I got no sympathy for the artists or record companies. I remember when new single cd albums would by £15 doubles like £20+. The companies were creaming it, UK customers were getting stiffed, shops would keep prices the same wherever you shopped. Now the norm is sub £10 for new stuff. This is no doubt due to ease of torrents not manufacturing costs. I think even iTunes used to charge UK users more than other EU customers. Anyone who lived through the early 80s would of heard the crap about home taping killing music, this is just the new incarnation and a right kick up the arse to them. Those poor old music execs how ever will they cope? Maybe this will be a way of separating the wheat from the chaff. Good bands can build up a good paying fanbase thru gigs and tours. Shit acts who cant perform live will die and blub about people using torrents. Theres a fair few bands I’ve got into and gone to watch live because of d/l music, they got money outta me that they wouldn’t had I not. The fact that a few gigs were sold out is besides the point. ;D If I could file share lily allen music and crush her carrer…BOY WOULD I. But shes not got to decide between food or heating, more like $6000 or $7000 watch that don’t fit her. Poor her. As for the Muse monitored ISP usage suggestion Im sure Lord Mandy will have a hard-on for any MONITORING, its what this Gov is all about. But who the f*ck voted him in. Oh sorry no-one. Fuckin double dipping pricks. My comps mostly for playing games, no idea what bandwidth it uses…cant imagine much Shit im rambling, if its good peeps will buy…if not we download

i dont agree with the weak from the chaff comment, theres alot of bands that have poor record sales with good albums. these are nishe bands and they suffer the most especially since they were probably discovered on the internet in the first place and are extra vulnerable to exploitation.
all i know is, if im an artist, i dont want people downloading it cus its money out of my pocket. yeah fair enough. it also depreciates it. if you dont like in on first listen, why give it another chance if you dont already like the band (like alot did with humbug) or have paid for it? you dont. so from that respect it ruins alot of albums unfairly. im generalisng yes but its still a valid point. for me its no different than shoplifting or any crime like that its just portrayed as acceptable because its piss easy to get away with. and alot more care goes into an album than chocolate of course.

all of the arguments have a point really and thats why its such a big issue nowadays. whilst i don't like itunes, at least people are buying the music so the bands get some recognition instead of probably being dropped by their label after a bad chart position.
