After about 2 hours scratching my skin of my face over the winners I have finally pickd 5
Though it was very very hard, I could have easily picked 10 winners, I just had to pick the people who I think stuck to the topic better than everyone else.
Don't question my superior knowledge, these are the 5 best and all 5 of them deserve to win.
Thankyou to everyone for your entries, I can say that no one gave me a bad poem, just that unfortunately they weren't as good as the 5 winners.
Thanks to Daz for letting me run this competition, everyone that has participated, and whoever it was that cam up with the idea of it, because it wasn't me. So cheers, it's been a pleasure to be a part of it
Here they are..............
IRLAMHILLBILLY
The greatest girl a guy could need,
Always at hand to share the laughter,
I’d take the bullet, I’d cry, I’d bleed,
It’s all I want and it’s all I ask for.
Is she Jekyll or is she Hyde?
But behind my back she talks and stabs,
Puts me down and slanders-my-name,
Mutual friends snigger and laugh,
She causes me sadness, anger-and-pain.
Is she Hyde or is she Jekyll?
In grim moments she offers peace of mind,
We’ll talk all night to silent echoes,
Shared interests and tastes form the bind,
I pray to inner-calm that she’ll never let go.
Is She Jekyll or is she Hyde?
But she’s two people, one good, one evil,
Complete poles apart, a differing individual,
Firmly bounded to suffocate her equal,
I’m too feeble to see, are her peers too critical?
Is she Hyde is she Jekyll?
Tranquil atmosphere surrounds our being,
Comfortable silences make conservation,
I view the inner-child without actually seeing,
Celebration as we marvel at one of life’s creation.
Is She Jekyll or is she Hyde?
Close to me one day, and never there the next,
Her vicious worm-tongue working the earth,
A vulnerable lover left to worship the sex,
Her dual façade man-manages the curse.
Is she Hyde or is she Jekyll?
Accused her of having two faces, but I was wrong,
She is no longer and the clouds dwell in the sky,
It was me at fault, to blame, MY burden all along,
Completing moment of life in the blink of an eye,
GONE!
It was me with two faces, too blind to see,
Suspect the worst of her, when she wasn’t by my side,
Confident in her grasp but paranoid when she was free,
She’s majestic in every way! I’m the twisted lonely Dr. Hyde.
FAYEROSEMAXWELL
The hearts of two forever entwined
Bound with love, hatred inclined
“I love you, despite each of your flaws”,
She whispered as his fist banged into the door
Can flowers and chocolates kisses and hugs
Be enough to show that a fist can be love?
A routine occurrence that happens each week
He’ll always come back so sorry and meek
He’s got two personalities two different faces
His own polar opposite two different cases
She always said she’d be brave and stand up tall
But that all changed when she felt her first fall
He says he can change and blames it on the drink
And the apologetic attention doesn’t give her time to think
She knows it’s dangerous and they’d tell her to leave
But being apart would be worse to bereave
She promises she’ll stay forgives him every time
But she can’t forgive him when it’s the worst crime
JOHNO
This poem is dedicated,
to those who need to be eradicated,
Those who think in red but act in blue,
Always thinking you don't have a clue,
but you know that’s just naive,
but they always hide something up their sleeve.
I'll try not to be cliché,
but these people leave me in disarray,
when I describe those who act like a charlatan
the fact they pretend to be one of your clan,
but when your backs turned,
they vow that their attention to you is spurned.
You think you have things in common,
but he's been lying and you have none,
He has his hidden hatred for the courteeners,
and he let that come between us.
The time comes when it arises,
that you find he's a wolf in sheep's clothing,
and all that you've seen is disguises,
It leaves for an eternity of loathing.
He needs to realise you can be the storm that’s over him,
the cloud or the sun that comes through,
It's always up to him to choose,
for its him with the most to lose.
Back he comes running in a different mind,
pretending his forfeiture has made him refined,
how do you know if you can trust,
or if you should you turn your back in disgust.
Do you treat him as a pharisee,
and stand your ground like a tree,
leaving him with the bitterest of taste,
but it's such a wealth of love to waste.
Will we both know the time to atone,
When we both become alone,
We were both young and immature,
the years have caused friendship to obscure
But surely there’s a cure,
to this backwards war.
The time has come for one to atone,
turns out the war he must postpone,
the fact is he's that much alone,
those he left me for have discovered,
those awful secrets he covered,
they realised with their backs to the lad
he was the kind to stab.
That spelt the end of this boys saga,
and he realised he could act this way no farther,
It was the time to redress the disguises,
Rid himself of the guises,
and stop leaving friends with surprises.
He must find for himself his character,
and stop being such an actor.
SPIRALSTATICX
As you hide among the shadows,
you conceal what you are,
As you break from the surface,
you can't go very far.
Your a shadow among the twighlight,
you seek but you can't find,
a love that was once there,
a love that now is blind.
You once were true,
but now your lost,
as a result,
your love has cost.
Your life is broken,
cast aside,
you've lost your shadow,
you now can't hide.
All this is what you are,
no friends,
no family,
your life ajar.
I thought I knew you,
but now I see
your just a false identity.
Your broken now,
you have no home,
you lie in darkness,
all alone.
You now might say
that you are free
but you've lost your love,
your life, and me.

Their eyes change from green to red,
It’s a personality clash within their head
It explodes, implodes,
They non consciously release their loads
Give no regard to reaction,
Show no sense of traction,
But yet then nice to the face,
I wonder who’ll be next week’s ‘case’?!
Any form of affection
Provides a form of protection
It always means it’ll never be you
No, you’ll never be next in queue
What this time, clothes or hair?
Stick up for them? You don’t dare.
