"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.

"Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

I'm so glad I saw them last month.
But they have split up so many times before.
Still... It's saddned me.
I feel bad for all the people planning on going to the gigs they've cancelled.

I was out in town and my mate got a txt sayin it and the DJ announced it aswell.

It brought a tear to my eye when Don't Look Back In Anger came on at the end, even though past 'The Masterplan' I'm not a fan, Noel is well and truly a genius and i thank him from the bottom of my heart for everything he has given popular music.

Noel said when he started out that he wanted to finish what The La's started, and he never quite did, but he got some way to doing it, so thank you Noel.

Shame that the arrogant pig that is Liam had to ruin things by the sounds of things, maybe a solo album by Noel will be on the horizon

they'll have a break, noel will do a solo album, liam may attempt one and fail then they will get bored and do another tour again

may take a lot of time before we see oasis again but I reckon they might be back at some point

ive never really hidden my distaste for oasis but i know how much you all loved them and this is a shame none the less. hopefully this will open the door for other bands.

Listening to Don't Look Back In Anger was what brought a tear to my eye too. Who knows then, maybe the Courteeners can fill one of the holes left by them. They were massive Oasis fans and will be properly upset about this I'd think.

A Noel solo album is something id love to hear! I am gutted though loved Oasis since I was 10

Adding my tuppence worth here, I reckon Noel was testing the water in '06 with that acoustic tour, finding out how it'd go if he did decide to go it alone if things got too much with Liam. And lo' and behold, 3 years later Liam tries it on again and becomes even more of a cock than usual with Noel and now Noel knows he's got sumat he can fall back on, so he buggers off. Probably the best idea, he doesn't need them anymore, and it'd be ending Oasis on a high really (genuinely good last album, great live record leading up to the split, general widespread press appreciation).
Noel's got a lot of distance to cover as a solo artist and really could do great things...
