yh i'm still struggling to see how City could finish in the top four, even with all these signings. a top class manager would stuggle to rotate them effectively and keep them happy, let alone mark hughes. on the other hand, i'm not sure if villa and everton (and maybe spurs) will be able to continue the way they have been doing over the past couple of seasons, suggesting that city may end up replacing arsenal in fourth by default.
on michael owen, i was pretty embarassed at first, but in the days that followed i warmed to the idea. am i right in saying that he had a superior goal ratio than tevez, with the added burden of playing for newcastle? i suppose he is a natual goal scorer, and with the likes of berbatov, rooney and carrick behind him, the chances will come.
and if he ends up injured all the time, we don't pay him, "simples".

I think Owen will do well at MUFC. He's a proven goalscorer. At Newcastle he was getting two-three chances a game. At United he'll, at least, double his number of chances with the superior service he'll be provided. Just look at Andy Cole, he averaged about 6-8 chances on goal before he actually put one in.
city are throwing money at strikers when they need at least three defenders and a midfielder or two. I'm not dissapointed to see Tevez at city. To me he was an Argentinian Alan Smith. Alot of effort and chasing down but a poor first touch and not enough end product. Inspite of all his moaning he actually played more minutes all last season than Rooney did. I'm happier with Owen.
It'll be interesting to see how happy ex-United ex-legend Mark Hughes can keep his squad.

Is there anyone on this site who supports a lower league team? I've been watching FC United since they started in the North West Counties Division 2. I also go and watch Irlam FC (who play in NWCD2) and watch Salford City FC (who play in Unibond North).

what's everyone's thoughts on the various teams pre-seasons so far?
As a red, i'm dead happy with Owen so far, but obviously we'll have a better idea against boca juniors, munich/milan and then in the charity shield, against better opposition.
City getting beat by Kaizer Chiefs was gave us all a laugh, as did Orient 6-1 Geordies.
As for Terry staying at Chelsea because of how much he respects Abrhamovich, it was nothing to do with the £160,000-a-week was it JT?

agreed with matt but its nice to see abit of lyalty in football whereas in most players they would jump for that extra 100k a week, adebayor and gareth barry being good examples.
ive just kept an eye on the eto'o, hleb 46mil euros / ibrahimovic swap, seems abit steep to me whichever way you look at it.
ill be watching that charity shield and watching to see how owen does. interesting match that.

ibrahimovich is the very definition of OVERRATED. he's not worth Eto'o, let alone Eto'o + £42m! fair play to inter though, cracking deal for them!

pre-season means nothing just for fitness city will be ready for the new season a top 4 place could be possible if they can just get another centre back and then switch richards to rb he played there when he first broke into the england squad and always flying down the pitch for city maybe another lb as cover for bridge as garrido hasnt proved himself i think the midfield is good but should add a world class midfielder and the attack is immense and cant be touched!

and sell some fuckin strikers! nobody needs adebayor tevez robinho and santa cruz. bellamy must be gutted. city will slowly turn into a club for players just leaving their prime to pick up a pay check and retirement bonus.
plus i really dont see tevez staying happy, he wont be getting more first team football than he did at utd.
