Arctic Monkeys have announced their comeback single will be 'Crying Lightning'.
The first track taken from third album 'Humbug' (out August 24) will be released physically - artwork pictured - on August 17.
However, the song will get its first radio play on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show next Monday (July 6), and the track will be made available as a download through iTunes from midnight on the same evening.

I saw this, this morning as well.
I know many on here are not a fan of the song. I think its a good piece of work. Would have prefered a song I have not heard to be the first track in all honesty.
Bit of a slower tempo to the tracks they have previously put out first in the form of Brianstorm and IBYLGOTD.

i like the song. it's a bit different, it shows the band have evolved. can't wait!

having heard the proper version tonight, its not too bad but it could easily have been on FWN, pretty similar to previous stuff bar a few bits
maybe it will grow on me but for me its not gna be as good a 1st single of new album as brianstorm was

nice little tune, not as explosive as dancefloor or brianstorm was as first singles but nice little number they got there

I love it! Took a couple of listens but I can just imagine it live - does remind of some of FWN and defo shadow puppets in there as well. Roll on leeds fest!

i dont like Crying lightnening. boring Doesn't seem to spring to life at any point or ever get going. With some luck the album will be immense, 'Get On Your Boots' was crap by U2, worse song on the album, but album turned out pretty ace. So never judge an album by it's first single. But if we did, then in my opinion it aint a good outlook. I have every bit of confidence in them so, album 1 and 2 where too good for them to ruin themselves. |

nah i like it, its not very energetic but it is abit different for them and thats always a positive sign. i was well chuffed when they didnt just make WPSIATWIN mk2 and i think this will be different again and yeah split the room abit. *approaches mic shyly* " we are the arctic monkeys, and this is i bet you look good on the dancefloor....dont believe the hype.." just seen the vid, gotta love tht bit, i think Arctic Monkeys are the only band i have faith in along with Muse, and maybe Radiohead. all becus theyve gone in different directions but gotten better so yeah. im not worried about Humbug  |

The more I listen the more I love the new track - I have total faith the album will be quality - different but still excellent - as was Favourite Worse Nightmare...I can hear some of FWNM in Crying lightening...
