That review is a shocker. A note to any reviewer who happens to read this. Critcise if you must, but for rucks sake you are setting yourself up for a fall criticising Sycophant aren't you? If you cared to listen properly then you'd probably hear that Liam says "we are judged on every single thing we do, but we could not care less because we are us not you." Clearly you didn't listen, and if you did, then laybe it would dawn on you that he couldn't give a f*ck who they sound like, who they may seemed to have copied, what you think of the music or te lyrics. The fans are gagging for it, the fans are the people that matter, and we are well and truly, and willingly, losing lot of fucking sleep over this album. So say what you want. Thankyou, and goodnight

I was in my local asda earlier and had a look at the CD section. Got goosebumps when i saw falcon sitting there. It was at number 14 there. Don't know if that really means anything though. i saw this is my local asda too. it was further down the chart but on a quick re-arranging, it was number 1

first time got it today, sat down, no interruptions on home stereo speakers an that - no computer speakers an that
love it, parts of it beautiful songwriting, beautiful singing from liam - even some of the heavier songs are amazing and beautiful in their own right
I know I have said beautiful too many times but anyways.....
really really like it - initial impressions much better then st. jude - saying that we did hear a fair amount of st. judes tunes before it was released

I think you can here the influences from the Producer in the album. Scratch my name upon my lips and Will it be this way forever especially sounds White Lies-esc. I was very worried and have been vocal on here that I didnt think I was going to like the album, but I do. It is very clear that Liam is very much in love on this record. Many of the songs mirror this. It seems to be a much more mature sounding album, with the more 'ladier' tunes (which sound a tad like the Rifles) saved for the bonus CD. One of the stand out tracks for me is Cameo Brooch, I think it is a beautiful song. Lyrically, I am not convinced, sometimes he pulls something brilliant out the bag, vintage Liam, for example on Last of the ladies. "Sometimes I may not see me for a week, dont think of this as a burdon, just a grander hide and seek", but sometimes I feel that he has let himself down with basic ryhming that for me felt he didnt put much thought into. I think the Opener is a prime example of this. "Your made for me and I was made for you" "I need to know if you want to and know if you will" I have not just taken them out of context, but for me they are nothing lyrics. On Sycophant "we're like a father and son we will never be undone" hmmm, I dont know about other people on here but I dont have a great relationship with me old man. I guarantee many dont. Not a water tight metaphor there, just lazy rhyming for me. It is a grower I think. It goes at the pace we all knew it would, which allows the big singalongs to continue throughout. I like it. I reckon it could be an album that you need to leave alone for a while after many listens not to over listen to it.

that bit of the opener does slightly make me cringe when i listen. as does the "keep your eyes on your homework son...etc" verse of sycophant. yet both songs are still pretty amazing for me.

I still think "will it be this way forever" is the second draft of "20/20"

benraul, a few posts up, makes some good objective points. I do thing the lyrics for the opening two songs are particularly weak, in addition CMHAHTF is a piece of music which, in my opinion, deserves better lyrics than "f*ck right off into the middle of the Sky", I can imagine the Oasis meatheads loving that one on the March tour. I also had similar reservations to benraul about the Father/Son couplet, in addition if anyone would care to explain the Woolworths-Mix lyric in the middle of Sychophant, I'd be happy to listen.

One lyric I didn't get was the "woolworths/mix" lyric, though every toher lyric I love, even the cheesy cliched ones, I love them all. But I can't get my head around that one And Scruff ^^^^ yes, he does come on here so there is absolutely every chance, that or great minds really do think alike
