In December, Morrissey made some controversial comments in the NME about England losing its identity and that Britain had an immigration problem. Sadly the NME warped it to make it look racist and to sell more papers, and this disguised the main issue of debaite that Morrissey wanted to provoke thought of - is England losing its identity, and if so - why? this has been touched on on other parts of the forum so let the debaiting begin

i personally dont think Mozzer really had any actual issue with immigration, I just think he was very unwise with his wording and fell victim to the vicious pen of the NME..god that sounds like sumat he would say haha

i dont mind people coming over here for work. doesnt bother me. dont mind muslims having mosques and whatnot. doesnt bother me.
but when theyre playing hell over our NATIVITY at christmas, and demanding all hospital beds be pointed towards Mecca, that does my skull in. This is our country at the end of the day. The Nativity is 2000 years old for f**k suck.
its political correctness gone mad.

The Country is going down the toilet and the reason is 'Human Rights' The government are scared to act in certain situation's. The nativity thing is just one example of us now being told what to do. Family's claiming benefit for children that don't live in this country, Men claiming benefit for there three wifes and demanding bigger house's from the state for there 8 children. The vast majority contribute nothing to our country. They don't come to work they come to take, but they get there bigger house because it's there 'human rights'!! All of which we pay for with our taxes, but yet we the tax payer have to go without, Free dentistry has all but disappeared and doctors appointments are next to imposable to get because the national health just cant cope. People are paying more tax to cover not just the cost of immigration but the 'war on terror.' I don't care what anybody says mosques are going to become the breeding ground for extremist if there not already, but the police can't do anything because its a place of worship, until theres an open door policy in place for the police they should all be banned. If there not doing anything wrong there shouldn't be a problem and at the end of the day they can prey at home like millions of Catholics and Christians manage to everyday Now this all may make me sound like a bigot, but I know a lot of lads who are second and third generation Indians and there great, there family's made sure they were integrated into the British way of life and they all work hard, they proud of there roots but also proud to live in this country, THATS THE DIFFERENCE. Yes people should be allowed to come and work in this country but only if there is a skills shortage in a certain area and they can offer more than a Burkha. Am not tarring everyone with the same brush here. I know that all Muslims are not shoe bombers but they never seem to come forward and help the police there seems to be a line drawn with a 'us and them' mentality. People in this country will only put up with so much and then all hells going to break loose innocent Muslims will be targeted, people who have done nothing wrong will have to deal with the consequence of a few mis guided idiots. The government are the real bastards because they don't seem to act quickly enough the simple reason why is there scared of infringing on 'human rights'. Now I have a feeling that because I used the words 'Muslims', 'government' and 'terrorist' in this post someone some were from the government or an MI5 office will get to see this. Thats 'freedom of speech and human rights' We have lost our identity, we have lost our britishness and I'm very sorry to say it's not coming back

i agree to some extent, the government is messed us up massively. thats why its so angering to see those reports saying that england is the worst place to raise a child in Europe - this isn't what we fought for and this isn't what its all about. I dont blame immigration for everything thats gone wrong in this country, but I do blame attitudes of some people in every community and sadly I feel that its all going to come to boil sooner or later and innocent people, whatever race from, will be the ones paying the price. this government isnt saying "what can you do for britain" its "what can britain do for you" and so many years of this has left our country where it is today, which isnt a nice situation for anyone to be in

It's frustrating can the government not see whats going to happen if they don't intervene SOON and stop making it so easy for every one apart from the people who have to foot the bill. Your right immigration is not the major problem, it's how its controlled by the people who are supposed to be leading this country and they fail over and over again. Sorry for my rant earlier on, I got on one a bit. Once I started it all came out. Am just pissed off I love Britain, never mind England but I can see what's going to happen in the future

aye, i agree with cal, its all to easy to go "oh blame the hoodies and chavs etc" and generalise them, but that kinda thing has gone on for centuries, where there's civilisation, theres people like that, and its generally due to the faults in society that these people arise, i mean yeah a lot of them are morons but its all to easy to blame them when they're just the product of a crap government

There have always been kids who cause shit, Mods, Rockers, Teddy boys, Hooligans. It a sort of British tradition to have naughty little bastards running around. But none of the mentioned ever robbed old ladies and just generally caused havoc all the time. fucking stabbings, shootings(at least the mods and rockers only kicked each other in on Bank Holidays.)
It comes down to there parents. I grew up in a single parent family but I know what my mum would have done to me if I ever had the police knocking on the door.
Parenting skills are terrible in this country and the laws shit thats why there not scared of anyone.
But Chavs as a rule are horrible little cunts......innit!!

The only thing that annoys me is all the pc rubbish. I've heard/read stories about not having st. George flags up, banks not being allowed to have piggy banks in windows & that. I hate that sort of stuff, fair enough let people come into this country but don't bloody change for them!

yeah, why on earth are we scared to be proud had to quote that there but aye, its infuriating because its not even the immigrants who are trying to change things, its morons in councils who think that thats what people who have immigrated here want, but i know that is not the case with the majority of immigrants. we are english and we are adapting for people to accomodate them but NOT changing our culture and the only people who do not accept this is folk in councils and offices who are up their own arses and believe thats best
